Flood exposure and access to essential health services in Tanzania
How much longer does it take to reach a health facility when rivers flood? I combined JRC GloFAS flood hazard maps, OpenStreetMap road networks and travel-time modelling across about 11,900 essential health facilities to identify the facilities and districts where flooding cuts people off from care.
Ongoing
Travel-time and accessibility modelling across Africa
Applying MAP’s travel-time framework to model access to health facilities in Nigeria, Uganda, Burkina Faso and Tanzania. I built an R Shiny interface so non-programmers can run the pipeline, and the outputs have informed community health worker distribution and facility planning.
Data products and dashboards
Live
HealthScope
A health facility intelligence portal for sub-Saharan Africa. It sits on an ETL pipeline I designed that harmonises national facility lists into the Sub-Saharan Africa Harmonised Health Facility Database (about 78,000 facilities and 300,000 service records, stored in DuckDB and GeoParquet), with tabs on services, access and population reach.
Country dashboards
Malaria risk dashboards
Interactive dashboards for National Malaria Control Programmes that bring crude, adjusted and modelled malaria incidence and prevalence together with environmental covariates and seasonality, ending in composite risk maps for sub-national tailoring.
Also built for Burkina Faso and Mozambique.
Training tools
Modelling transparency dashboards
Three training dashboards (Mozambique, Angola, Benin) that walk programme staff step by step through how MAP produces its malaria estimates, from routine data to modelled outputs.

Malaria country profiles portal
A standardised, open-access Quarto portal summarising malaria epidemiology, environmental and entomological data for 11 African countries. Researchers submit data through GitHub, and automated workflows rebuild the site.

WapiCare: nearest health facility finder
A mobile web app for Tanzania’s flood season. A user shares their location and gets the nearest health facility, the route by transport mode and the services available there. I lead the project and own data preparation.
